Merry Christmas from Betse & Clarke and JJ

Our musical hero John Hartford recorded this tune, one that comes from West Virginia, and we learned it from his playing... we subscribe to his quote on Speed of the Old Long Bow: "Play your tune to suit yourself; then you're as good as anybody else".

With a big nod to John Hartford, who recorded this fine tune from West Virginia on his album "Wild Hog in the Red Brush". We made this video on December 31, 2016.

We made our own version of "Christmas Time Will Soon Be Over", from Fiddlin' John Carson and His Virginia Reelers. Can you name the tune we reference in the tag??

At this wonderful house concert (in a barn, actually) during our tour of Ireland, September 2016. Cookstown is in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The Red Room is a great concert series and we are grateful to the Loughrins for their kind hosting and friendship.

Here's an old Ozark song that Brett Hodges taught us. The band is Brushy Creek Trio, the place is The Culinary Center of Kansas City, and this is The Kitchen Sessions.

This tune comes from the Carpenter family of Braxton County, West Virginia. A large overhanging rock was used by the Carpenter family to hide from aggressors as early as the 1790s. Ernie's family was full of gifted fiddlers, and thankfully a few of them were recorded so that we can continue to carry on with the tunes.
